The Gateway Tour is back in Anthem this week, but we're playing their other golf course. I had a disappointing first round. I played better today and the score reflected that. An early eagle (#3) got my round off to a quick start. The eagle was a complete surprise. It was an up and down week in Yankton. I made a lot of silly mistakes that lead to a lot of bogies and double bogies. The birdies were always too few and far between. Just a quick post about round 1 in Yankton. I shot a 69, 3-under. Played two holes poorly and stupidly. Believe it or not, but I kind of got off to another slow start. Today's 2nd round was delayed for 90 minutes because of thunderstorms. I got to the course just as the morning wave was coming off of the course. I proceeded to sit around for 90 minutes and all of that waiting nearly put me to sleep. I turned things around today and made a much needed improvement after my 2nd round disaster. I hit it better than either the 1st or 2nd round, but I still had some horrible swings. I hit horrible approaches on #10, #17, #1, and #3 - but I was lucky to save par on each of those holes.The best thing about my round was how it ended. I got a major jolt of energy with an eagle on my 17th hole (#8).

Opps. I took several giant steps backwards with today's round. Worse ballstriking than yesterday. Struggled to hit fairways and struggled to hit greens. I got off to a nice start, but it wasn't the prettiest of rounds. I'm very happy with a 2-under 70, but I hit a lot of loose shots today. I only hit 9 greens today, but I was saved with one chip in and two putts made from the fringe. In total, I had 25 putts in the first round. The two putts I made from the fringe were about 15 feet and the longest putt I made on the green was only 3 feet.

Well I'd like to think that I had a chance to win the event, but Alex Hamilton's 8-under 64 was crazy good on the final day. His 64 was 3 shots better than the next best score of the day and he blew open the tournament to win by 3 shots when there were about 12 guys within 4 shots after 2 rounds. Took a two week break, but I'm back in North Carolina for another Egolf Tournament. I shot a 3-under 69 today, which started out rough. I short-sided myself on 1 and 2 - lucky to make a par on 2. This has become laughable. Last week the tournament was shortened to 54 holes and this week we're dealing with more bad weather. Didn't get much going on Sunday. I managed a mini run of birdies on 14, 15, and 16. I ended with a 69 and finished T13. I beat Jesus by 3 strokes!At times this week I hit great iron shots and made some great putts. But those moments only lasted for a few holes, never an entire round. This golf course has really small greens and most of the holes are lined with pines trees and tall oak trees.

No update yesterday because I checked out of my hotel and moved into a house where I don't have access to internet.Friday's round wasn't pretty, but I managed to shoot under par - 71. Rainy afternoon in Yankton, but I stayed relatively dry and shot a 69 - 3 under par. I made all 4's on the front side (birdied the par 5, bogied the par 3). On the back nine I birdied one of the par 5's and one of the par 3's. My only bogey on the back side was a 3 putt, where I got too aggressive with the first putt and rolled it 5 feet past.The exciting part of my round was the last hole.

No good news from Wichita. I shot 1-under 71, but needed at least a 69 (if not a 68). My front nine was a solid 35, but on the back nine I hit a few horrible shots that led to 3 bogies. I finally won a Dakotas Tour event. Coincidentally, it happened to be the biggest one day payout on tour. $4000 for 5 hours of work.
